Phi Theta Kappa organizing writing contest
October 5, 2015Heartland’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for community colleges is putting on a writing contest about self-esteem.
The contest is open to Heartland students and students in middle school and high school.
What to write about
The contest’s topic is on self-esteem. Points to write about include:
- How do you define self-esteem
- Why is self-esteem important to you
- How can you build self-esteem
- Ways to build the self-esteem of others
Entries should be no longer than 1000 words and can be in any format, such as essays, narratives, poems, etc.
Submission
Email your entry by November 5 to sara.bourque@heartland.edu.
Award
Top entry receives a $45 Barnes and Noble gift card. Finalists will be notified the week of November 9.
Expression of Self
To qualify for the gift card, finalists need to be present at Phi Theta Kappa’s Expression of Self event.
Date: Saturday, November 21
Time: 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Place: ACEC
The event is open to all.
